Insurance Programs


Financial Performance and Rate Monitoring

This section is a collection of insurance programs that have a financial impact on all campus operations through their assessment rates. These rates can be either assessed through charging of payroll or by direct charging a department.

Currently insurance programs are:

  1. Be Smart About Safety (BSAS)
  2. Unemployment Insurance
  3. Workers' Compensation Insurance
  4. General Liability Insurance
  5. Employment Practice Insurance
  6. Property Insurance

Be Smart About Safety (BSAS) is funding collected through the insurance programs that is applied to safety initiatives on campus.

Unemployment Insurance is the program costs undertaken by the University to provide income to ex-employees who have involuntarily left employment and are attempting to return.

Workers' Compensation Insurance is the costs undertaken by the University to compensate employees for work-related injuries, diseases, and death.

General Liability Insurance is the program costs undertaken by the University to indemnify against bodily injury or property damage caused to non-UC individuals or entities.

Employment Practice Insurance is the costs undertaken by the University to respond to liabilities arising from lawsuits alleging wrongful termination or other employment-related actions.

Property Insurance is the program costs undertaken by the University to indemnify against theft, damage, or destruction of property.
